Meet the Executive Board

2021-2022

Meet our 2021-2022 HPILF President, Molly McNerlin! (She/her/hers). Molly is a 2L from Ukiah, California. She studied Communication at UCSB. Molly is passionate about criminal law and is an aspiring District Attorney. She is an active member on our UC Hastings campus as a LEOP tutor and OASIS DGL for Criminal Law, and is on Trial Team. Molly is a rooftop bar connoisseur and enjoys spending her free time with her Cardigan Welsh Corgi, Gatsby!
Meet Sofia De Guzman (she/they), HPILF Co-Vice President! She’s a 2L from Stockton, CA and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2020 with a degree in Political Science. Besides HPILF, Sofia is on the exec board of OUTlaw and is co-President of the Pilipinx-American Law Society. In her free time she enjoys rollerblading around the city, playing video games (anyone Valorant?), and cuddling with the love of her life @momochithecorgi.
Meet Raymund Quicho (he/him/his), HPILF Co-Vice President! He is also the secretary for the Hastings Pilipinx American Law Society. He is from San Diego and went to Point Loma Nazarene University. His favorite activities include eating good food, PC gaming, and weightlifting.
Meet Ryan King (he/him/his), HPILF Treasurer! Ryan was born and raised in Long Beach, California, and attended CSULB, earning a B.A. in history. He is a 2L who is committed to pursuing a career in public defense. In addition to HPILF, he is also a staff editor for the Hastings Journal of Crime and Punishment. In his spare time, you can catch him skateboarding around the hills of the city or somewhere rooting for the Dodgers and Lakers.
Meet Ani Hernandez (she/her/hers), HPILF Director of Communications! Ani is from Torrance, California and graduated from San Francisco State University, with a major in Political Science and minor in Race and Resistance Studies. She is a 2L who is interested in criminal defense/post conviction work. Ani is also involved with Hastings Prisoner Outreach, is a public interest mentor, and is externing at the Contra Costa Public Defender's Office. In her spare time, she cares for her many (many) houseplants, enjoys going to Dolores Park with friends, and loves listening to true crime podcasts.
Meet Gentry Powell (he/him/his), HPILF Director of Development! Gentry is from Dallas, Texas and graduated from New York University. He is also a part of the Hastings Race and Poverty Journal, Hastings Comparative Law Review, and is a Public Interest Peer Mentor. In his free time, he enjoys exploring San Francisco with his dog, running, watching F1 (Red Bull), and the English Premier League (Chelsea).
Meet Brianna Callagy (she/her/hers), HPILF Co-Gala Chair! Brianna is from San Mateo and graduated from Chapman University. She is also a part of the Moot Court team and is a member of Hastings Prisoner Outreach. In her free time, she loves exploring San Francisco, watching Netflix, and golfing.
Meet Lauren Noga (she/her/hers), HPILF Co-Gala Chair! Lauren is from Lafayette, California and graduated from UCLA with a double major in History and French. She is also on Hastings Moot Court team, a LRW teaching assistant, and is on the Hastings International and Comparative Law Journal. She is passionate about criminal law and is an aspiring Federal Prosecutor. In her free time, she loves to hang out at the park with friends, drink wine, and cook!
