Here is our round-up. Mark your calendars! HPILF Panel HPILF will be putting on a panel on Oct 24th at 12-1pm in Room J! Come along to hear more about making a career in public interest. HPILF is co-sponsoring an awesome event with the Pilipinx American Law Society. Join PALS on the SoMa Pilipinas EthnoTour on Saturday, October 12: 11am to 1pm to learn more about Filipino History in South of Market! The tour will involve learning about historical events, struggles and legacies through the anthropological and historical lenses of the Filipino community in South of Market. Not only it does depict the history of SoMa Pilipinas, but also ongoing matters such as gentrification and displacement and the living history of our neighborhood. The flyer for this event can be found attached to this email. Please note there will be a $10-15 suggested donation, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Space is limited, so RSVP here: http://bit.ly/PALS_SoMaTour. ASUCH's Halloween in the Tower This is an annual event where Hastings hosts a safe trick-or-treat program for the children of the Tenderloin. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 3-5pm if you are interested in being involved! But please note this time may change. If you live in the tower, it would be awesome if you would acquire candy to hand out to trick-or-treaters! If you are interested in having a more active volunteer role, such as helping to organize and/or helping with logistics on the night please reply to this email and we will give you the info you need/put you in touch with the right person. Best, Megan Armstrong HPILF Communications Director Hello, HPILF Members!
The purpose of this email is to follow up from our GBM last week. Thank you so much for coming, and sorry for running out of pizza so quickly! We promise that won't happen again! Please note we will be sending out another email tomorrow with details about upcoming events. 1. 1L Reps We had a lot of interest from you all regarding becoming 1L reps! If you marked your interest – congrats, you are now a rep! I have sent out an email to everyone in the 1L rep group. If you did not receive the email and you would like to be a 1L rep, please reply to this email to let me know! 2. Student Mentor Program Please find below a link to the questionnaire you should fill out if you are a 1L and would like to be assigned a 2L/3L student mentor. We are aiming to match you with an upper division student who has similar career interests to you and who will hopefully be able to provide you with advice on working in your sector of interest. The purpose of a mentor is also to provide wisdom and advice about law school generally. Having participated in a similar program last year, I can say that it is invaluable to have someone to contact who has more law school experience under their belt! Please fill out the form by midnight, Thursday, 10th October. https://form.jotform.com/92687789400168 If you have any problems with the form, or any questions generally, please reply to this email. That’s all for now! Thank you for being members and we are so excited for the upcoming year. Best, Megan Armstrong HPILF Communications Director |
